Here, you will find a poster aimed at millennials (specifically, millennials at the University of Michigan). I took the same topic I had worked with before in my re-purposing and re-mediated it into a new genre. I wanted to create something that would cause the viewer to reflect on their own personal identification and experience with religion while at the same time show that many others around them on campus ponder this topic as well. While readability is normally important, were it an informational poster, I was less concerned with the viewer’s ability to read every piece of text and more concerned that the poster’s design would draw them in for more in the first place. It is meant to be intriguing; less up-front than an infographic. I also found a place on campus where it could fit in: the roundtable discussion ideally facilitated by the Central Student Government. I spoke to various people I knew who are involved around campus and one who also is involved in Young Life, a Christian group, to see where they saw a conversation regarding this topic springing up. This helped formulate my final idea while at the same time tackling my biggest challenge: joining an already present conversation on campus.
