Here, I took the idea guiding my college application essay and re-purposed it into the new genre of a personal narrative aimed at exploring my personal experience with and questions regarding the ubiquitous topic of religion. In making this key change I was able to more clearly articulate my own ideas, questions, and trepidations with which I hope my readers will also identify. I used a personal narrative written for The New York Times as a structural model, knowing that this is not meant to be an impersonal essay. I have also employed outside links for the reader to explore, similar to how the article would be if it were published online. My audience is my generation, my peers who might either be struggling with the same things I am or who might have it all figured out. Regardless of their stance, I hope my reader will feel welcome to join the conversation, form an opinion, and begin asking questions of their own.

Re-Purposing
